NEW Fat Tire Electric Tricycle for 2024! Wide Tires for Balance: E Trike Review

Updated On: May 2, 2024

Introducing the Simple Step-Thru Fat Tire Electric Trike. Hey everyone, I'm Dustin. I have nearly 20 years of experience in the bike and e-bike industry and today I'm going to introduce you to the newest Fat Tire e-trike from sixthreezero, the Simple Step-Thru. This is an amazing fat tire e-trike with a 750-watt front hub motor, four-inch wide tires with 20-inch by four-inch wide tires in the rear, and a 26-inch by four-inch wide tires in the front. 15 amp hour battery, and like I said, 750 watt amp hour motor. Now we've got a bafang motor kit on here and display. For the production model, we may or may not change that. We're looking into options, so keep up on the specs on the website. But, we've also got a front suspension fork here, that has a decent amount of travel, so if you're going over bumps. So if you like to ride fast on your e-trike, and you wanna go up to 20 miles an hour, or even 16 miles an hour, and you want really wide tires to feel safe, and also you want shock absorption, this is a great option, because you have this front suspension, plus these big wide tires are going to absorb everything.

Now the cool thing we've done here though is we've made the frame super accessible. So this is the lowest step through the frame of any e-trike that exists. Even though it's a big trike, it's only a 10-inch step over height. So to get on and off, step through, only 10 inches. Now the other thing to know is the seat in the lowest position, go ahead and measure that for you as well, is 32 inches. Now, the cool thing about mounting and dismounting a trike like this is you can just step onto the pedal, hold the brakes, well, we're on a little bit of a slant here, and get on like so. Or, a better option also is to step through, put your foot here, hold the brakes, and step up. Now the seat's a little bit low for me, we have it in the lowest position. The other cool thing is we've designed it with an ergonomic upright riding position. So we've used these bars that come into your body so your hands can be relaxed while you steer and you can be comfortable while riding. Another cool thing is there's a seven-speed option. Now, if you want to ride without the motor you want to ride up hills or you like to get exercise, you have seven speeds. Not a lot of electric trikes have that option. So cool. You also have three disc brakes, so one in the front and two in the rear. And there's a rear differential on the back here.

So this rear differential is going to mean that power is going to be distributed to both rear wheels. So as an example, if one of your wheels comes off the ground, it's going to send power to the wheel that's on the ground and allow you to pedal through, pedal out, and make it safer. On turns and slick surfaces. So that's a cool feature. You can see how big this battery is here too. 15 amp hour battery. You're going to get up to 50 miles a ride. Even more in pedal-assist or throttle is an option as well. And you do have the pedal assist and throttle options. So you have five levels of pedal assist and it's a twist throttle up here. So you just simply twist your wrist to use the throttle or pedal to use the pedal assist. Now, you can also see the front wheel is 24 inches and the rear is 20. We've done that on purpose to set it lower in the rear in order to keep the weight distribution in the back and keep it more balanced. That way, on turns and when you're riding, you're gonna feel very safe. Super unique frame design, haven't seen it extra wide tires also come with a front headlight here. One other thing I want to point out, let me jump out here, is all of the tricycle bags that we make on our website are designed to fit, and this is just one of the duffel bags, they are all designed to fit perfectly inside.

So we've got three options, we've got the liner, this is the duffel bag, and you can see, and then it just sits in there like so. And lo and behold, we've got our matching helmet and our matching water bottle in here as well. So whatever you want to toss in there during your rides, you can put in there and then you would latch that down. So it's a cool feature. As I said, we've got basket liners, we have the duffel bag, and you can choose what you wanna put in there if you wanna bring your dog with you. So let me give you some quick measurements here. So from the front wheel of the trike to the rear wheel is 76 inches, actually a little shorter, let me, 76 inches. Now the actual width of the trike at the widest point is 31 inches. So you still could fit through doorways that are probably 32 inches standard. From axle to axle, you're looking at 54 inches right there. I already measured the stepover height from the grip, from the handlebar stem to the middle of the seat is 25 inches. Also, a lot of people want to know what the handlebars turned. With the handlebars turned right here, it is 70 inches. So if you want to fit that in a pickup truck or a rack, most likely you can. And now with the 750 watts of power, this can also propel riders up to 350 pounds. 300 pounds up hills, no problem with the pedal assist. The throttle for a 300-pound rider uphill, you may need to just use pedal assist in level five, but on flat ground, it's going to be no problem.

You can carry loads back here. It's a very powerful motor. It is a Bafang motor, which is very reputable, and a lot of electric bikes and trikes use that motor in this day and age so I'm going to hop on quick and just do a little demo ride just around the parking lot. And you can follow up with us for more ride videos we're gonna do as we get it out on the terrain. All right, now that I'm on, you just hit your power button up here. Everything turns on and I can use my throttle. Okay. Oh, I just wanted to show you one thing too. We got your light right here. So push that on. Did it go on? Yep. There you go. And you can push that to turn that off. There we go. All right. And so let's see. I'm going to raise the seat just a touch. Okay. All right. So you can see the throttle. And the cool thing is, when you turn, you can see it's very balanced with these tires. I can even go on an angle here. With the four-inch tires, it's so stable. There we go. Now, I just have it in the pedal assist one. I can put it in three. Really, fun and easy to ride. Now if you wanna come, we'll show you how it performs on a hill as well. So we're gonna take it to a hill and show you how it gets me as a 225-pound rider up the hill. All right, so here I am. I got my helmet on. I'm just going to show you how I get up this hill. I'm just going to do throttle only the first time and show you how I can get up this hill. I don't know if you can see the hill. I've also got a little rain to contend with. But here we go. Okay, so I made it up. I'm 225 pounds, just throttled. Now I'm gonna do pedal assist. You're gonna see. how I can fly up the hill I'll put it level five and here we go and I can also increase my gears there we go Okay, we did it pretty easily. And the cool thing is, again, these fat tires, how stable it is, but still how nimble.

You can check this out. Easy to steer. So, if you want to see more about the simple step-thru fat tire e-trike, it's linked in the description.
